Hé Chéng welcomes you! Distant guest
November 3rd, the 20th day of the ninth lunar month in the year Gui Mao. The sky is clear and crisp, with a gentle autumn sun that feels just right. Zhanxiang Farm welcomed its first official group of visitors for the second half of this year—members from the Lifelong Learning Association of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who arrived for a three-day sightseeing and study tour. This marks Zhanxiang Farm’s inaugural large-scale travel group of the latter half of the year, as well as the farm’s triumphant return to hosting eco-friendly, educational, and leisure-focused tourism activities since the pandemic began. Amidst the vibrant hues of late autumn, the orange orchard bursts into a mesmerizing blend of yellow and green, creating a picturesque scene. And nestled among the trees, each golden-orange mandarin shines brightly—just like the warm, welcoming spirit of the Zhanxiang team, ready to greet every guest with open arms. As friends from afar arrive, how could we not feel joy? Guests…

The 2023 season and Orange Face City are just around the corner.
It’s the 19th day of the ninth lunar month in the Year of Gui Mao. As we step deeper into late autumn, the lingering warmth gradually fades, giving way to crisp, cool days that grow stronger each day. The vibrant hues of orange and green—the hallmark colors of southern China’s autumn—are truly nature’s most breathtaking spectacle this season. After more than 200 days of dedicated growth, the oranges have finally reached their perfect, bountiful stage, ready to dazzle with their golden glow! Right now, those radiant patches of warm yellow shimmering across the hillsides embody the hope we at Zhuanxiang have nurtured throughout the entire year. Time flies like flowing gold, and though life often brings moments of separation, it also gifts us with beautiful reunions. After just a few short months apart, the eagerly anticipated launch of the 2023 harvest of "He Cheng" oranges is fast approaching! Harvesting will kick off in mid-to-late November, with the fruits officially hitting shelves for sale in early December. So mark your calendars—this is your chance to be among the first to savor these luscious, sun-kissed oranges! And here’s some exciting news to share with everyone:
Never betray your passion—let’s embrace the beauty ahead together.
I can’t shake the passage of time—I just want to gently glide through this autumn. Alone, I quietly row upstream, carving a golden shoreline in my wake. The river quietly opens its eyes, smiling softly: "There’s always someone returning home, and always a boat ready to leave the shore." But my friends say, "What’s past is gone—what’s meant to come will find its way."
Students are also crossing over, instantly becoming "new farmers."
Although Hong Kong has returned to the motherland for 21 years, due to various factors—historical, cultural, economic, and educational—many young people in Hong Kong still have a rather one-sided understanding of mainland China, and some even feel uncertain about their identity as "Chinese." In terms of agriculture, Hong Kong relies heavily on mainland imports to meet its local food supply. Yet, most Hong Kong residents know very little about the agricultural development happening on the mainland, and few have had the chance to personally experience the farming and management practices there.

The Hong Kong residents' northern dream: Becoming a truly "green" farmer
Green, pollution-free… As people become more health-conscious, their demands for food safety are steadily rising. Once upon a time, Hong Kong residents would typically avoid Chinese imports altogether. But does that mean farms on the mainland necessarily rely heavily on pesticides, excessive additives, or simply maintain poor hygiene standards?
